Alligators could be found walking around the property.
Evidently he had some place to go.
He went to the cross walk before crossing .... although he didn't look both ways first!
On he went - this close and he actually didn't pay any attention to us..
Apr - On to Louisiana - new home Sam Houston Jones State Park.
Built around swamp - more alligators - interior road.
Pileated Woodpecker - about the size of a Crow..
Cormorant - oh it's so warm - actually he was drying his wings after fishing.
Ibis decided he didn't want to stay.
Apr - driving the LA Gulf
Had to take a ferry across the inlet - cost $1.00.
Hard to believe there was no bridge.
Apr - Welcome to Mississippi.
It was warm and she needed to cool off.
Parked on bluff and forced to look at the lake.
May - Vicksburg - the visit that "hooked" us on the Civil War.
As you drive thru, Union lines are recognized with blue signs like this.

US Major Gen J Logan - memorials of all kinds and sizes.
Remember this was a farm and this was the family home.
White flag was raised - both sides ceased fighting and allowed family to leave.
The square markers have numbers - no names.
One of the new war ships - with iron sides.
Returned for all to see from the bottom of the Mississippi - the beginning of a new generation of war ships.

Battle was in and around church and cemetery.

Dirt mounds built as protection.
Shared grave of Confederate soldiers.
May - Georgia - Kennesaw Mountain Nat'l Battlefield.
Cannons were dismantled and carried to top of mountain.
Remember this was someone's farm.
Typical fence that separated farms.
First shot was fired at Church
Methodist Church as it looks today - still in use.

Marks the site of a headquarters and where a General was lost.
